Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is a common condition that involves the accidental loss of urine. Although it is not serious or harmful, it can be embarrassing and may affect the quality of your daily life. Fortunately, treatment of urinary incontinence is usually simple and effective.

We can help you in discussing and evaluating this problem.

In many instances the problem can be helped by:

  • Certain pelvic floor exercises
  • Changing your diet
  • Limiting your fluid intake
  • Setting a urination schedule

Oftentimes, these steps are very helpful.

When conservative methods are unsuccessful, medications that relax the bladder may be prescribed.
For some women who do not respond to more conservative treatment, very minor surgery may be required. Surgery modifies your pelvic anatomy and returns it to its original location to restore control. If you have evidence of prolapse or relaxation then other procedures may be required to help restore normal anatomy. Your doctor can help you decide which treatment option is best for you.
